If you are wondering where I have been, we have travelled to Auckland in New Zealand to help celebrate the spectacular three day long 50th anniversary of the JDC there – and have returned with truly dozens of stories – small and large! The hospitality we were shown was humbling too.

In the city where official dealers, Archibald and Shorter, are now the world’s oldest continuous Jaguar dealers, the cars and people there are simply amazing. We saw models we have never seen before – new and older.

The stories we gathered will be featured in many coming editions – but consider these:

Mark and David Shorter – their grandfather Bert founded the car business

New XK-SS – the only one in the Southern Hemisphere

F-Pace SVR – one prototype, and two brand new cars which arrived last Friday!

E-Type Roadster chassis #29

E-Type FHC 1962 New York show car

Coombs Mk2 (genuine!)

XJ ‘575’ – rare modern Jaguar

Jaguar used parts specialist – 400 Jaguars scrapping!!!

Bruce McLaren – his Jaguars, his former home and service station, his museum and even his grave

Jock Lawrence – the racer who finished second in an Ecurie Ecosse D-Type then moved his family to New Zealand. His wife tells his story while his daughters and son fly the family flag

Mark Shorter – new Life Member acknowledged

Mark Shorter – his massive collection of Jaguar brochures – many very rare. Almost certainly the largest selection in the world

Historic images never seen before – until now

Testing the new XE – a 3.0 litre petrol model kindly loaned by Jaguar New Zealand

Finding a former Jaguar Director who worked under the late-Sir Nick Scheele

I-Pace – of course!

… and that is just the tip of the iceberg!
