It is with a very heavy heart we report the passing on June 8, 2019 of the legendary former Jaguar test driver and engineer, at the aged of 98, Norman Dewis.
Norman was a great in the entire British motor industry and worked as hard as anybody at Jaguar at improving the ride, handling and reliability of production Jaguars, while testing and sorting each of the C and D-Types and other competition models built.
Norman became an unofficial PR head following his retirement and travelled the world in that role as an ‘amateur’.
He died at home following a battle with cancer. It was his wish to pass at home, and thankfully, he didn’t linger too long.
We pass on our very best thoughts to Norman’s family (pictured here with him when he received his OBE at Buckingham Palace).
A major tribute is following in our next edition.
RIP Norman Dewis.
