It is a thrill to publish these latest images of the Ron Hodgson racing Mk2 which finished 3rd in the 1961 Australian Touring Car Championship (behind two other Jaguars), because after more than 50 years off the road the same car is about to reappear in better than new condition!
It will be our cover car in edition #207.
The car is 95% ready to go and one of the key personnel advising and working on the car is legendary driver Kevin ‘KB’ Bartlett – who showed us over the Mk2 in detail. He worked on it when it was new so knows everything about it.
We are going to follow today’s visit up once the car is back on the road in the next few weeks. Knowing the car from when it was a bare shell owned by the late-Paul Cotter, through the build and to this – it is going to make a unique cover story.
To make it even more intriguing, the Bowdens own too the Mk2 clone which Hoddo built, and the incredibly historic ‘Grey Pussy’ works-built McKay/Hoddo/Geoghegan racing ‘Mk1’ which started Australia’s love affair with touring cars!!!
Well done to David and Chris, and all who have worked to revive this precious historic Jaguar.
