The late and very great Ian Cummins would have been impressed with the results of the Shannons Auction tonight in Melbourne of part of his massive personal car and model car collection.
He would have been especially delighted that his 1966 Series E-Type Fixed head Coupe E-Type was sold to a buyer in his home city of Griffith in the Riverina for $206,000.
Unfortunately, the delightful Austin Swallow was passed in at $34,000.
We will have a full report in our next edition, but other highlights included a delightful 3.4 Litre ‘Mk1’ saloon which sold for $74,000, a Series 2 E-Type Roadster which found a new home at $202,000 and his replica C-Type went at $222,000.
His personal perfect D-Type clone, which I believe is the best reproduction in the world, failed to sell for $660,000.
Outside of Ian’s cars, a lovely 1994 XJ-R supercharged saloon, one of our very favourite modern Jaguar classics sold for a very impressive $30,000,
