We just love solving mysteries, and a 1988 IMSA Jaguar we found recently, pre-Castrol livery, may turn out not to be a new chassis!
The IMSA car was built in 1987 before the IMSA programme was announced, but our private photographs mysteriously also came with a number of other images portraying a Silk Cut Jaguar which we have now identified.
It disappeared mid-1987 was not raced again.
We will reveal both chassis numbers in our coming edition, and I hope in doing so we can correct history – much in the same way as as being going on with C and D-Types for decades!
