Jane beat arch rival Leo Geoghegan (following here) in a Lotus Elan in two races, the cars reaching 148 and 142 mph respectively coming down Con Rod Straight.
Jane raced the car in England, and at its first race (which was in Australia) he won the Australian GT Championship (November, 1963).
He sold the Lightweight at auction in 1980 for AUD$80,000. Its most recent sale saw it bring close to AUD$9,000,000.
