  • RSR XK-R FOR LE MANS - DRIVERS ANNOUNCED

    Date:
    24-02-2010

Jaguar is officially returning to Le Mans for the time in seventeen years since TWR represented it with the XJ220C.  Now it comes back via the US RocketSports team with a single RSR XK-R, and that establishes the third US and Jaguar link with Le Mans.  The first was Briggs Cunningham, then in 1984 and '85 Bob Tullius' Group 44 team brought the marque back with its XK-R sports racers which attracted crowds of 250,000 to the French Sarthe circuit for the first time in many years.

The 2010 entry will run in the GT2 class, and be piloted by RSR team owner Paul Gentilozzi, Belgian Marc Goosens, former TWR Jaguar driver Scott Pruett and 27 year old Scottish star Ryan Dalziel who won the Daytona 24 Hours race in 2009.  Goosens and Dalziel will drive the RSR XK-S in the 2010 American Le Mans Series.

This year marks 75 years of the Jaguar name on both road and race cars, and Paul Gentilozzi commented:  "We are delighted the ACO has granted us entry in the 24 hours of Le Mans.  It is held dearly in the hearts of motorsport fans across the world and for Jaguar to be racing again is something special.   We are fortunate to bring an international line up of the world's finest driving talent for this race.

“Spirits will be high around Jaguar’s return to Le Mans, but we must remember the incredibly high level of competition - a podium place in our category will not fall into our hands.  That said, I can guarantee 100 per cent commitment from Jaguar RSR and urge fans of Jaguar and Britain’s racing heritage to support the team whole heartedly.”
