Halewood near Liverpool marked another milestone when the plant waved farewell to the X-Type Jaguar.

The last car to come off the production line is bound for Jaguar Heritage Museum in Coventry where it will join some of the marques most famous models.

The keys to the last X-Type were handed over to the Jaguar Heritage Trust on Friday December 18. The Museum also boasts the first Jaguar X-Type made in the factory in May, 2001.

The Knowsley plant started producing the luxury Jaguar model after then owner Ford announced the end of the popular Escort in 1997.

The company said the X-Type has been an overwhelming success for Halewood operations and Jaguar and is one of the companys biggest selling models ever.

Jaguar Land Rover announced the end of X-Type production earlier this year.
