Last month, during a discussion with journalists about General Motors’ new “May the Best Car Win” marketing campaign, Bob Lutz laid down the challenge to any journalist to a duel with the Cadillac CTS-V to see if any comparable car could topple the Caddy.
The guys at Jalopnik quickly accepted, putting forward Wes Siler, who will be racing Lutz in a Jaguar XFR.
He will be joined by Jack Baruth from The Truth About Cars and New York Times contributor Lawrence Ulrich, though we don’t know what cars they will be using just yet. What we do know is that several ‘civilians’ will also be competing in the event in their own private cars.
This lineup will include drivers in a BMW M3, a BMW M5, an Audi RS4 and even another Cadillac CTS-V. The original challenge pitched by Lutz was to find a stock production sedan on the planet that could outperform the CTS-V on the track.
The time and place for the challenge has been set for October 29 at the Monticello Motor Club in Monticello, N.Y.
