  • JAGUAR AIMING TO RECREATE MODERN C, D AND E-TYPES?

According to a report in respected U.S. publication Automobile Magazine, Jaguar will build limited edition C-Types and D-Types and perhaps later on, E-Types. The cars will be developed and built by Jaguars 'R' Performance Division, which will combine the retro looks of yesteryear with modern drivetrains and chassis elements.

It is believed street legal cars will fetch (provided they sell any of course) between U.S.$250,000 to $600,000.

In the 50's the D-Type was the car to beat. The earlier modeled C-Type won at Le Mans in 1951 and 1953 when race cars just started to average 100 mph. The more powerful D-Types roared onto the track and became victorious in 1955 and 1956.  The model claimed five out of six places in 1957 with the Scottish Ecurie Ecosse team claiming the wins in 1956 and 1957.

If you can't find an original C or D-Type all is not lost as Jaguar is reportedly back in the game. At this point it is unknown if the D-Type will replicate a works car or the slightly 'toned down,' street legal, XK-SS model.
