New Zealand’s Panasonic Jaguar driver Mitch Evans finished in a very fine 4th place in the Hong Kong second race of Formula E in the new season. Nelson Piquet Jnr in the second Jaguar, and who was 4th on Saturday, had a troubled race to come home in 14th.
Mitch drove a fine great race and could have been one the podium in third placing other than being caught in his pit at the car swap because of incoming traffic.
It was by far Jaguar’s best result in its Formula E career, and the team is vastly improved over its first season. Evans sportingly added that he could not have held onto third even if he had not been delayed, but was happy with the result and progress the team has made since last season.
If you still have doubts about Formula E – remember that Audi won this second race of the weekend after a number of unexpected incidents close to the end of the race, and Mercedes-Benz and Porsche are coming into the series soon too.
Let’s add: All they need for more racing appeal is NOISE!!!!!! We all know electric engines are mostly7 noiseless, but please, organisers make it happen artificially, otherwise it seems just a more than a little too close to Scalextric slot cars …
Well done to Panasonic Jaguar.
