DAVID HOBBS – ADELAIDE PARENTS AND A DAIMLER/JAGUAR MAN TOO!

Many motoring fans around the world are familiar with English-born US motor racing broadcaster David Hobbs.

He raced Le Mans countless times, Daytona, F1, works Porsches etc., etc – but he is a former Daimler/Jaguar Student Apprentice from Coventry!

His mother and father were born in Adelaide, South Australia his father being the inventor of many things including a very early automatic gearbox.  That took them to the UK Рand the rest of this extraordinary tale is revealed in our coming edition.

David began by racing his parents Morris Oxford then an XK140 fitted with a Hobbs transmission – which he rolled.

It is a fascinating story.
