D-TYPE LIKE YOU HAVEN’T SEEN

This is D-Type XKD526 – a car with two unique elements to its history.

You may find the Jaguar, seen here with its driver, the famous Frank Matich, looking a little strange with this coupe roof.

It is the only D-Type ever known to have one fitted for racing at least, and its purpose was to allow it to compete in GT racing.  Bob Jane fitted one to his ex-works Maserati 300S also!

The D-Type is also the same car which was raced at full tilt by a woman when it was new – that was Mrs Geordie Anderson in Brisbane.  No other ladies are known to have done that.

We have more images and a detailed story coming up in Jaguar Magazine.
